Lansing Empowerment Network recently hosted the first African American Advisory meeting, bringing together leaders from across Lansing’s Black community. This powerful gathering created space to examine how broader societal issues are impacting our community here at home.

As we closed out Black History Month, the timing felt especially meaningful. We reflected on our collective commitment to advancing the well-being of our people, while also confronting the realities we face. Together, we unpacked critical challenges, shared perspectives, and explored practical strategies that can lead to real change.

We now have valuable data from this meeting that shows what our community is most concerned about and most affected by. This insight will guide our next steps and ensure our work is grounded in lived experience and local reality. Expect to see this data released soon.

A huge thank you to Gregory’s Soul Food for offering such a warm and welcoming space for this important conversation. We are committed to strengthening our connection with you and addressing the pressing needs that were named in this meeting.

This is only the beginning. Stay connected, stay engaged, and let’s keep building together.
